Cavity-induced peak power clamping effect for gain-guided solitons in passively mode-locked fiber lasers

Abstract: A thorough experimental and numerical investigation of the generation of gain-guided soliton in passively mode-locked fiber lasers made of purely positive dispersion fibers was presented. The cavity-induced peak power clamping effect was verified experimentally and numerically. The dependence of the performance of the laser on the cavity structure was explored. The results show that the gain-guided soliton with much higher pulse energy obtained in the fiber laser is determined by the cavity structure and relate this to the cavity nonlinear management and output ratio choice.
